Announcement
Supervisor Janice Parvin
Serving Ventura County's Fourth District
Mental Health
Priorities:
Mental Health
I’m proud to be expanding behavioral health services in District 4 with a new Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) in Simi Valley. The CSU will provide immediate, short-term mental health care for individuals in crisis, helping them stabilize and return to their communities without hospitalization. It will improve care coordination with local providers and allow first responders to return to the field more quickly. Located alongside existing substance use treatment services, this CSU will be a vital, cost-effective resource for our community’s mental health needs
Economic Development
Priorities:
Economic Development
As a former business owner in Ventura County, I understand the challenges local businesses face and am committed to their success. I work closely with Chambers of Commerce and serve on the Economic Development Collaborative to promote business growth. I’ve advocated for reliable infrastructure, including addressing Public Safety Power Shutoffs and expanding broadband access. I’m also supporting tourism and the arts by growing the film industry and securing funding for local cultural institutions. My goal is to help businesses thrive through strong partnerships and proactive problem-solving.
Public Safety
Priorities:
Public Safety
Public safety has always been my top priority, and I’ve worked closely with law enforcement, fire, and emergency services to secure resources, advocate for funding, and push for wildfire preparedness. I’ve taken a strong stance on public safety policies, fought against Proposition 47, and successfully opposed AT&T’s attempt to withdraw critical telecommunications services in fire-prone areas. I regularly support and attend community safety events, including panels on fentanyl and wildfire preparedness, and advocate for first responders through fundraisers and mental health initiatives. I’m also working to bring vital services like a Family Justice Center and Crisis Stabilization Unit to East County to support residents in crisis. Additionally, I’ve helped secure suicide prevention measures and continue efforts to bring more county services closer to our community.
Water Sustainability
Priorities:
Water Sustainability
Water is essential to all life, and I am honored to represent the County Board of Supervisors on the Association of Water Agencies, where I stay informed on regional water efforts. I work closely with local water purveyors to ensure long-term access and sustainability. A top priority for my district is establishing a desalination plant to strengthen our water supply. I’ve long supported the Moorpark Desalter Facility and continue to advocate for its progress. The 4th District includes four water districts, two county-run and two locally managed.
Social Media
Supervisor Janice S. Parvin
I am so honored to be able to represent the 4th District residents, thank you for trusting in me!

How do we know how many people are experiencing homelessness in Ventura County?
Each year, the community participates in the Point-in-Time Count, a coordinated effort to better understand the scope of homelessness across our region.
This data helps guide funding, shape programs, and inform decisions at the local, state, and federal level.
It’s more than a count, it’s a tool for planning and progress.

Great way to kick off another year of literacy and inspiration at the Take 5 and Read Breakfast 📚✨
We heard from Dr. Sonia Aguila, a dedicated teacher from Carpinteria, whose story of perseverance and passion for education continues to inspire students and educators alike. Her journey, overcoming adversity to be named National Bilingual Teacher of the Year, is a reminder of the impact one person can have on so many lives.
This year’s featured book, "I’m Hungry, Tengo Hambre" by Angela Dominguez, highlights the importance of language, culture, and connection through reading.
This program encourages families to take time each day to read together and build a lifelong love of learning ❤️📖

Great to attend the Ventura County Sheriff’s State of Law Enforcement Briefing Breakfast and hear important updates on how we’re keeping our communities safe 👮♂️☕️ For the second year in a row, Ventura County has been recognized as the safest large county in California. This is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the men and women of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office. 🏆 We also learned about the launch of the Blue Envelope Program, an important new initiative designed to support individuals with autism and other communication challenges during interactions with law enforcement. Homelessness is one of the most complex challenges facing our community, and it’s not handled by just one agency.
In this week’s County 101 we break down the County’s role, including providing mental health care, substance use treatment, healthcare, and supportive housing services.
Cities, the County, and community partners all play a role, and coordination is key to long-term solutions.

Bob’s legacy of service, compassion, and dedication to our community will now live on in a place focused on care, dignity, and support for those in crisis. He also gave so much of his time through pro bono work, especially supporting teens struggling with mental health, making this tribute even more meaningful.
